Toyota Yaris

by blueschoolofmotoring 18. October 2009 11:38

I recently took ownership of the new Toyota Yaris TR 1.4 diesel turbo. I use it every day for work and play, and have fallen in love with a small car.  I used to swear by the Vauxhall Corsa which I had driven as a driving school for over 9 years, it took some changing. And the change that made me cross over from Vauxhall to Toyota was one of customer service.

After taking my Corsa to a Vauxhall dealership for a replacement clutch and being told it would be 5 days before a new clutch could be shipped I decided to make the change, it was also the indifference of the staff, at a dealership I will not disclose, as they would probably get the sack.  But the thanks Vauxhall, I am now a very happy Toyota Yaris driver.

The Yaris has a great feel about it, handles well on corners, feels sturdy looks good and has for its size a lot of power, especially when pulling off at junctions. It feels great on the motorway and is a comfortable ride on long distances, I took a trip up from Berkshire to Yorkshire a few weeks ago, and at the end after 4/5 hours on the road, I got out and felt fine, not aching with a bad back and I’m 6.2”.

The sound system is superb, it belts out a nice quality of sound from my integrated iPod.  The gear box is so smooth, and it is so easy to handle, especially around corners, parking and reversing is a breeze, plenty of good visibility all round, hardly any blind spot problems.

Boot space is Ok, you do have the option of taking out some levels and making it deeper, there are plenty of storage spaces internally for all the stuff you need in car, like maps, phones etc.

I also use it to teach in, as I run a driving school, and all of my pupils love it, some have even after passing their tests, gone on to buy and own the Toyota Yairs.
